Snacking gets a bad reputation. I remember when I was growing up, my mom would yell, don’t eat that it would ruin your appetite. However, it doesn’t have to be; If we make the right choices, snacking could fuel our day while keeping those hunger pains at bay. Case in point, the last few months, I have adopted a more active lifestyle when it comes to the food I eat and how I spend my down time. Snacking has been giving me the energy I need to get through my day. Hence today’s post on 4 Ways To Snack Better.

- Make it accessible. Pack something healthy, so when you get have cravings, you can nibble on something to boost your energy. Avoid empty calories and instead, opt for something that provides nutrients – apples, bananas, grain cracker etc. something to keep your stomach from rumbling.
- Make sure you’ve options. Eating apples will get old soon enough, so make sure you’ve choices. That means a mixture of sweet, salty, savory, hard and soft.
- Keep snacking to a minimum by learning to love water. Yes, water can be an excellent way to temporarily ease your hunger without filling you with empty calories. If you’re not a fan of water, consider flavored water by adding strawberry, kiwi, etc. to give it an extra kick.
- Read the label. Before picking up that on the go snack, make sure you spend some time reading the nutritional label. You want something that’s high in protein and fiber but has low calories, sodium, and cholesterol.
