Afropolitan Mom here – Hi!!
About Afropolitan Mom
A top New Jersey lifestyle blog by Kira. Based out of NJ, Kira started The Afroplitan Mom as a creative outlet to inspire and empower women to not only live but celebrate their life without judgment while balancing being a woman and a mother. Here she shares her motherhood journey, food & drink, everyday style, tech, travels, and family adventures with friendly tips on how she manages to balance it all.
Kira was born in Nigeria, West Africa, and migrated to the United States with her family at age 15, where she continued her high school and college education. She’s a wife and mom to two smart and amazing daughters. When she’s not working, you can find her experimenting in the kitchen by trying out new recipes, traveling with her family, reading, watching TV, and spending time with friends and extended family.

What motivates you?
Freedom and family
Life lesson(s)
Trust your gut and stay true to yourself – be authentic.
How would your younger self react to what you do now?
She would probably laugh really hard because it’s not something she envisioned. She wanted to be a corporate lawyer. When she’s done laughing, she will notice that, although she hates being at the center of attention, being a wallflower doesn’t align with what her future holds. She instead finds joy in having her fingers on the pulse of technology innovation and smart digital storytelling.
Favorite vacation spot to date?
Turks and Caicos
Are you a morning or night person?
I’m a mix of both, depending on the day.
Which one is more important, family or friends?
Family for sure, I grew up surrounded by my family; we were not perfect, but we are all we have, so I can’t imagine my life without them, friends are excellent too, but my family is everything. .
Are you more of an extrovert or an introvert?
I am extroverted in places and people that I am comfortable with and introverted when things and people are new and unfamiliar..
A song that always gets you out on the dance floor?
I love music in general, but I will say Afrobeats always gets the party started
What’s one thing that can instantly make your day better?
A hug from my children
What would be the first thing you’d do if you won the lottery?
You mean, besides screaming, jumping up, and sharing the news with my husband.
