Why A Girls Trip Is Good for Your Relationship

Girls Trip Is Good for Your Relationship. When thinking of taking time off, your first thought may be a couple’s trip or a family trip if you are in a relationship and/or have kids. And while spending time with your kids and your sweet-honey-love-muffin is very important, it’s just as important to take a trip without them. When you’re in grade school and college, it’s much easier to find time for your girlfriends. Maybe they’re your sorority sisters or maybe you had classes together or maybe you just had more free time to hang out when you were younger. But the older we get, the more complicated our lives become. Finding time for a coffee date or happy hour becomes more of a chore than a natural, quick meet up.  Once you have careers and romantic relationships and kids, it’s hard to get your schedules to align. Going on a girl’s trip may be just what the doctor ordered.

It will help you reset and recharge. Getting caught up with the day to day monotony of life can have a negative effect on your relationship. If all you do is go to work and go home and run errands, you will eventually become overwhelmed with life. You need a break. You deserve a break. Invest in yourself so you can hit the reset button and recharge. Self-care is important so that you can be a better partner and give back in a better, more authentic way to your relationship, family, and job.

It will remind you to be more fun. If you’re always stressed out and exhausted, you can sometimes forget to just have fun and be fun. If you remember fondly your college days of just laughing and having fun with your girls, you can actually recreate those days (to a certain extent). Just being around your friends will remind you to have fun and not take life so seriously.

It will help you appreciate your partner more. Every relationship needs a healthy balance of togetherness and autonomy. Spending all your time together sounds appealing when you’re in the honeymoon phase, but eventually, you realize you want and need some time apart. You may be hesitant to admit that you want a break from bae, but it’s actually quite healthy and beneficial for your relationship. Taking some time away to be with your girlfriends will help you to appreciate your significant other even more. Absence really does make the heart grow fonder!

So the next time you and your friends talk about planning a getaway, don’t delay. Don’t put it off. Don’t talk yourself out of it. Just do it! It will be good for you and it will be good for your relationship.
