Visit the Princeton Art Museum for an educational field trip for all ages. Art collections range from African and Asian, to Contemporary and Modern Art. This museum’s collecting history extends back to the 1750s, so you’ll see things here that you won’t see anywhere else. Self-guided tours and activities are available, designed to help children have fun while learning about art history. Be sure to download a tour guide before you visit.

Another awesome history lesson, the Princeton Battle Monument is rated in the top 10 things to do in Princeton. This massive granite monument was unveiled in 1922, commemorating the Battle of Princeton showing George Washington leading our troops to victory.

It’s located at the west end of downtown Princeton, and is a wonderful place for a shaded picnic under the trees. Bring the family, and make a day of it. Don’t forget your camera – this is a one of a kind spot that you’ll definitely want to share with your friends from across the globe.

Look around and you just might notice the Albert Einstein monument nearby.

If you’re looking for some unique books to read, the Princeton Public Library should be on your “to do” list. One of the best public libraries around, it’s the perfect casual space to relax and learn something. Explore the beautiful three-story library, and don’t forget to check out the Calendar of Events. From Spring Fever (live music, masages, and more), to Sunday Stories, there’s always something to do at this library.

With no entrance fee, the Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park just might become one of your favorite places to visit this summer. With a six mile run reservoir site, trails, picnic tables, fishing, hiking, boating, and more, everyone in the family will have something to do all day long. No more “I’m bored!”. Problem solved.

This peaceful, historic waterway is also an educational trip in the making! If you’re homeschooling, or just wanting the kids to get some extra learning in, have them look up information about this canal built in the 1830s. It’s scenic, and it’s rich in history. Win!

Carnegie Lake is privately owned, but open to the public, and costs nothing for entrance. There’s fishing in the summer, ice skating in the winter, and a beautiful boathouse on the lake which is used by the University’s rowing team.

There’s plenty of room to bike, walk, or run on the towpath – and you’ll get to see the crew teams training, which makes for an interesting way to spend a few hours!
