Sweet and Spicy Jalapeño Chicken Wings
Easy sweet and deliciously sticky chicken wings with a slight kick, thanks to the added jalapeño pepper. One thing I like about this Baked Sweet and Spicy Jalapeño Chicken Wings is the nice crunchiness on the outside against the moist and flavorful inside because no one likes soggy or dry wings.
My secret to achieving this – I start the wings in the oven and finish them off under a broiler to crisp the skin. The key here is not to toss the wings in the sauce too early.
Although this recipe has jalapeño, it’s not aggressively spicy.
Oh and the sauce. Hmm.
Frankly, I would suggest dipping the wings in the sauce but if you toss them in, don’t do it too early or it will become soggy.

I do two types, one with the glaze/sauce and one without. That way it feels like we have two different tasting dish.
Although the wings taste great when you bake it right away, I would recommend marinating and storing in the refrigerator for at least an hour or longer to allow the flavors to develop. To help you out, here is a step by step video:
How to make Sweet and Spicy Jalapeño Chicken Wings
Baked Sweet and Spicy Jalapeño Chicken Wings
- 2 lbs. Chicken wings, tips removed at joint
- ½ cup olive oil
- 2 tbsp minced garlic
- 2 tbsp grated ginger roots
- 2 tbsp grated jalapeño pepper
- 2 tbsp onion powder
- salt and pepper to taste
- Sweet and Spicy Jalapeñ Glazed
- 1 cup of Coca-Cola Zero™
- ¼ cup of honey
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp grated jalapeño pepper
- 1 tbsp corn starch
- 2 tbsp water
- salt and pepper to taste
- Pour olive oil, garlic, ginger, jalapeño pepper, onion powder, and salt over the chicken wings in a resealable bag.
- Mix well and store in the refrigerator to marinade up to 24 hours
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees
- Line a baking sheet with foil and arrange the chicken on the baking sheet.
- Bake for about 30-45 minutes until the skin, rotating halfway to make sure both sides are good
- In the meantime, prepare the glaze by adding Coca-Cola in a medium size saucepan and simmer for about 5 minutes
- Add the jalapeño pepper, honey, and brown sugar.
- Simmer for about 5 minutes, add the cornstarch and water mixture and stir until the sauce thickens
- Toss wings in sauce; remove and arrange on the broiler pan
- Put it under the broiler for 5 minutes
- Garnish with jalapeño pepper
- Serve with leftover sweet and spicy sauce
