I’m heading to International CES 2014 in a few hours to cover the largest consumer electronic show. The big thing this year is connected technology and here are a few categories that’s getting a lot of buzz –
Wearable sale reached $4.6 Millions last year, which makes me sad that I didn’t purchase the Google glasses when my invite came in a few weeks ago. No worries though, all will be well when I get to the show. We expect to see a lot of wearable technology, most notably from Samsung, LG, Sony, Fitbit, Qualcomm, and Pebble. A lot of companies will be showcasing wearable technology, from the latest wrist or eye-wear to body sensors, mind and gesture controlled devices. There will also be jackets that adjust based on temperature to solar-powered handbags.
I’m addicted to watching HGTV, so this arena is one i’m super excited about. We can expect to see anything from smart thermostats, programmable sprinkler systems, energy-efficient lighting systems and programmable security system. Samsung will unveil the first 105” Curved UHD TV and Smart Home, a service enabling users to control and manage their home devices through a single application. I look forward to learning more about the 3D TV without the use of 3D Glasses. Polaroid will release an affordable 50-inch 4K priced at $1,000. Netflix is expected to launch streaming in 4K. There is something for everyone.
We will probably see a lot of driver-less cars with 9 of the top 10 car manufacturers in attendance, you can rest assured I will get my share of futuristic driving. Manufactures will be demoing different car technology features like adaptive cruise control, collision detection, and park assist.
Tablet & PCs
Acer will launch its affordable tablet Iconia A1, a stylish 7.9-Inch android tablet and Iconia B1 which offers slim design, 1.3GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of memory for fast and smooth web browsing and gaming. LG will show off its new Chromebase all-in-one desktop and Tab-Book 2.
Sorry, I couldn’t write about what to expect at CES without mentioning the celebrities that will be on site. I’m hoping to run into Pharrell Williams, Nick Cannon, Tim Tebow, Mötley Crüe – Vince Neil, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Garrett McNamara just to mention a few.
I’m also looking forward to seeing what smartphones and cameras that will be hitting the market soon, Samsung will unveil its Galaxy Round, Galaxy Camera 2 and Samsung NX30 while LG will demo the G Flex and Acer will showcase the newly revealed Liquid Z5.
There are so many things to see, and i’m excited to share it with you guys. I’ll be in Vegas reporting all week on all things CES, so make sure you check back.
