8 Hidden NYC Attractions

There are more attractions to see, restaurants to eat at and places to explore in New York City than you could ever come across – with thousands of choices, it can sometimes be difficult to decide what to see and do and what to skip. If you’re no stranger to the city that never sleeps, picking some hidden NYC attractions for your trip could provide the best time for you and your family. Here are some not-so-common places you’d never think to visit in NYC:

8 Hidden NYC Attractions

  1. The High Line: one of the most overlooked parks in New York City – and one of the prettiest, too! There are gorgeous plants to see and beautiful views – the perfect spot for a relaxing day in the city.

  2. Bryant Park: located between 5th and 40th, Bryant Park offers gorgeous views and beautiful fields of flowers – and with Central Park not far, this less crowded park often goes unnoticed. You can take a tour, go to a café or even sometimes attend a concert. On a gorgeous summer day, this is one of the best options there is!

  3. Washington Square Park: while this isn’t your typical park, Washington Square on 5th Ave and Waverly Place can be a really great, relaxing place to take pictures, eat lunch and take a summer stroll. There is a gorgeous arch and fountain that make for great backdrops, too!

  4. International Center of Photography: this museum dedicated to photography is offbeat and super neat as an attraction you wouldn’t normally think of. There are tons of always changing exhibits, and it can be super educational too.

  5. The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum: this is one of the most historic (and easy to get to!) spots in NYC. You can walk through a historic aircraft boat and even get to tour the submarines and have an awesome view of the Hudson River.

  6. Madame Tussauds Museum: this unique and fun trip is a great way to spend a few hours of the day and isn’t something you’d normally think of. There are hundreds of wax figures of celebrities to take pictures of and even some interactive activities for kids and adults to take part in! There’s always fun music playing, and it’s a great activity for the whole family.

  7. New York Public Library: while it’s a very well-known spot, it isn’t every day that you think to visit a library! But this library has so much history in it, that you can enjoy more than just some books. There are tons of fun workshops to take part in or even just look around at the endless amount of historic books and woodwork there is.

  8. New York Trapeze School: while this might be a huge fair of many, there is nothing like learning to use a trapeze bar while overlooking the Hudson River! And trying new things – especially on a trip to somewhere like NYC – is one of the best things you can do.

Take the less-traveled path and try out some of these unique attractions that still never fail to excite in the city that never sleeps! NYC is so versatile, and there is truly something for everyone – while Times Square and the Empire State Building are fun, taking some time to try uncommon things can be just as exciting.
